For me, there’s nothing like diving into sand on a warm summer’s day. I tend to do that a lot while digging after a volleyball, especially on the beach. Beach volleyball is a terrific sport, especially during the summer. You get to spend time outside in the hot sun enjoying the time with friends and family. Volleyball combines agility, coordination, anticipation, reflex action, explosive power and calmness. Why calmness, when one panics the focus is lost and all the other motor skills become impaired. Volleyball combines a multitude of skills that Stayfitanywhere provides. We utilizes many different movements during our everyday life and when we put it into sports, we get to see the full spectrum of what our bodies are capable of.
Volleyball is also a sport that usually does not require an abundance of equipment, usually just a volleyball a net and a couple of friends. Volleyball can be played in 2’s, 4’s and 6’s. I have played all types, indoors and outdoors. It will be a sport I hope to continue participating in for years to come.
If you’ve never played before or looking for someone to play with, give me a shout! I’m always up for game.

Everything in moderation, I’m sure we’ve all heard that. I recently watched a documentary on how doctors, fitness experts, health experts are segregating the fit and the not so fit. We tend to have biased opinions on what we believe is the right way to eat, the right way to keep fit and what everyone should be doing.
If your work day consists of mainly one position, sitting, this is for you. Some of you may not know, that I use to be one of those individuals. The day would consist of waking up, driving to work, grabbing a coffee and plopping my butt down in a comfy chair infront of a computer screen. Probably exactly what you’re doing right now. Then the rest of my day would consist of getting up a couple of times in the morning to go to a meeting where I would sit again. A lot of times, lunch wasn’t even on my radar and right around 3pm, my brain and body was telling me it was nap time. The last two hours of work just dragged and dragged. If this is you, then keep on reading.
Well it’s been over a week since the Olympics have ended. What a fantastic two weeks it was for me. I attended multiple hockey games, mainly the Canada games. If you’ve never been to an international hockey game with your home country playing, there is nothing else like it. The atmosphere, the energy and anticipation from the time they step on the ice for the warm ups till the final buzzer goes. It’s an experience that is indescribable.
I recently had a friend send me a youtube clip. I honestly wasn’t suprised after viewing it. The funny thing is, people know better, but yet, a place like this exists for a reason. However, I’m pretty sure most individuals who go to his joint probably aren’t regulars and probably don’t order the “Quad” burger. Take a look at the youtube video
I was reading the Vancouver Sun online and came across this article in the Health section. Of course this is the new year and many of us once again try to get on the fitness bandwagon. And of course, 80% of the people who have all the intentions of keeping up with a fitness routine, probably won’t make it past March. The article is ok in my opinion. It gives tips on how to choose a health club and the number one reason why people don’t go to the gym, the location. Here is the article from the
A daily ritual of mine is to peruse new articles and find ones with interesting headings. This one from the Vancouver Sun today caught my attention, Physically active boys tend to be smarter: Study. It was a study on how activity levels can increase congnitive function and development. Although, they were clear to say, they weren’t sure if the smarter boys were just more active or if the fitness activites made them smarter. But it was concluded that cardiovascular exercises do improve cognitive function and development. We’ve even proven it to ourselves, when we manage to tear ourselves away from our work for even 5mins, walk around the office, take deep breaths, it helps refocus and energize us for the next task. Plus, with some of us being in Vancouver, it’s simple for us to take a step outdoors and look at the mountains and ocean which we sometimes take for granted. You don’t need to be personal training, but take a few minutes out of your hectic work day and enjoy what’s around you. If it helps younger kids with clear thinking, don’t you think it’s worth a try?
I came across another article I found interesting. It’s not soley about fitness or personal training or online personal training but more about technology and how we’re addicted. With virtually everyone in a developed nation hooked to the hip with a digital device like a blackberry, iphone and the need to facebook, myspace and twitter, can we really live without it? Don’t get me wrong, I’m an advid techy, looking for the latest and greatest gadget and how it can used to improve our online personal training system and jazz up our future personal training studio. But are we so addicted we feel we can’t live without our devices being on 24hrs a day. Take a test, try not being a slave to your device or a social networking site. You’ll find you have a bit more time to focus on your own health and fitness. Everytime you feel the urge to twitter about your last coffee outing, stop, drop and do 5 pushups. Imagine if you replaced some of the wasted time on these sites and texting with a few stretches or body weight exercises, you’d be fit as a fiddle…give it a try. You can view the article at
